Yvette Guilbert, one of the best know cabaret singers in Paris around the turn of the 1900s, was a favourite model of the painter Toulouse-Lautrec.  Two prints of Yvette, done by Lautrec, are seen in this room, while the colors used in the interior decoration complement these paintings.  A unique play on modern color combines with an antique feel. 

Madame Yvette is a luxury room with a large, separate balcony where you can relax, unwind and enjoy the beautiful view of the swimming pool, garden and distant mountains.

Interior decorators typically use bright orange, yellow, and brown to capture the South African style; however, I opted for a fresh approach.

My inspiration stemmed from a small pink tray purchased at a local market directly from the artist. I was captivated by his use of bright pink alongside zebra motifs. Consequently, I decided to acquire a zebra skin from a renowned taxidermist in Pongola, a guest and now a perfect friend who has frequented our guesthouse for 13 years.

The town of Marrakech, situated in Morocco, features a unique style of architecture.  Its use of colour in tiles and fabric was influenced by its historical contact with Spain.  Our uniquely styled room, Marrakech, was inspired by these distinctive colours, the geometrically painted tiles, and the highest quality fabrics.  It resembles the lifestyle and artistic view brought out by Marrakech and the distinct local blend of design and décor.

Inspired by American city life, we took a creative approach and coordinated a style that extends throughout this apartment, not restricting our guests’ creativity and expressive potential.  Our theme has made this room a fully functional and stand-alone apartment. 

Incorporated is a kitchenette with a washing machine, dryer, dishwasher, microwave, complete stove top and oven, and a dining table with a lounge area.

The 1925 novel written by F. Scott Fitzgerald follows a cast of characters on prosperous Long Island in the summer of 1922. It explores the age of the roaring twenties and inspires us to recreate the feeling through this room. Relive art Deco with a touch of old Hollywood.

Venice, the romantic city in Italy with its many waterways crisscrossing through it, has a history dating from the 6^th century.  Our intimate luxury room is set to take you back to the romantic and luxurious city of Venice.  Inspired by our love for Venice, the room effortlessly mixes an elegance of antique and modern.  It is highly stylish and has an Italian architectural feel.

Pierrot, the famous character from the Italian commedia dell’arte, is set by the composer A. Schoenberg as the moonstruck and fantastical clown, symbolising putting on a mask to hide one’s true feelings or opinions.
