Staying Near Mediclinic Stellenbosch: A Guide for Medical Visits
Not every trip to Stellenbosch is about wine. Some are about a scheduled procedure, a check-up with a specialist, or sitting with family while they recover. If that’s why you’re here, you need something different from the usual guest house pitch: quiet, comfort, and a base that makes the practical parts easier.
Location matters more than you’d think. Baruch Guest House Lovell and Baruch Guest House Rhodes are both in Die Boord, the same suburb as Mediclinic Winelands Orthopaedic Hospital on Rokewood Avenue, and a short drive from Mediclinic Stellenbosch Hospital on Elsie du Toit Drive. That means less time in the car on discharge day, and an easy trip back and forth if you’re visiting rather than staying.
If you’re recovering. Ask about our ground-floor rooms if stairs are a concern for a few days. Venice at Lovell and the Veranda Room at Rhodes are both wheelchair-friendly, light, north-facing rooms that open straight onto the patio, pool and garden, an easy, level walk out for a bit of air without navigating stairs. We also have a wheelchair on site if you need one during your stay. A full breakfast is included at both properties, one less thing to plan for each morning. Neither of these rooms has its own food preparation facilities, so if you’d rather have a kitchen to manage meals on your own schedule, ask us about the self-catering studio at Lovell instead.
If you’re visiting a patient. Die Boord is quiet by design, no through-traffic, mostly residential streets, which makes it an easier place to decompress between hospital visits than staying in the town centre. You’re still only minutes from the Stellenbosch Wine Route and the Art Mile if you want a short walk to clear your head, without needing to plan a full outing.

A few practical things guests ask us:
- Check-in and check-out: 14:00 and 10:00. If your hospital schedule means you need to arrive earlier or leave later, ask us, we’ll do what we can.
- Parking: Secure on-site parking at both properties, useful if you’re managing a car with a family member or friend who has limited mobility.
- If anyone needs to keep working remotely during a longer stay, the properties have fast and stable Wi-Fi.
If you’re planning a stay around a Mediclinic appointment or procedure, call us on 021 882 9013 or email info@baruchbb.co.za, we’re happy to talk through which room suits your situation best.
